Introduction to my Music

For as long as I can remember, I have had an interest in musical composition. My instrument is the violin, but I am able to dilettantically play the piano somehow. I always liked doodling around on the piano and the violin, playing around with musical themes, developing them, and they kept haunting me.

I did not think about attending a conservatory, but part of my violin training consisted of classes in musical theory, and I was lucky enough to have had excellent music teachers in high school as well. Additionally, my interests always lay in classical music - only peripherally in pop and similar genres.

My music is written in a notation program, and my enthusiasm for writing it has coincided with the quality of such software. Thus even if I started in my mid-teens with playing around with some musical themes, it took some time to actually write them down, and to actually turn these odd themes into music.

I have pondered for quite some time whether I should actually write music, or even make it available for the general public. At some point though, the realization hit me that if it was possible to make "garage band" music, then there should be something like "living room classical."

You can clearly see some musical influences in my work. I am obviously very old-fashioned. I believe in clearly recognizable melodic material, in thematic development, and in the adherence to classical-romantic forms, with some exceptions. My musical diet is heavily situated in the Late Romantic Era, with some Minimalism and some Classicism thrown in.

Let's see where this will go, and I'm happy to share my doodling with you.
