Introduction

Trees, part of "earth", are structures made by nature. They are the most poignant example for the self-organization of chaos, especially when naked and cold, in winter, when their fractal-like branch structures are not clouded by leaves, when their shapes appear undisguised, open.

But I see trees not just as an example for chaos theory. Trees can also allow for the utmost romantic settings, for the most vivid interaction with other elements, like skies and the sun and earth and human-made structures. Trees can stand for both the naturalist and the romanticist perspective.

The series has been started in 1995, the pictures have been taken with a pretty ordinary camera, no fancy stuff.
